The Urban League of Oklahoma City distributed 2,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to children Saturday morning, July 28, 2012 in preparation for the start of the school year. Some people arrived as early as 5:30 to be in line when the doors opened, according to an Oklahoma City police officer at the site. At times, the line of people stretched around the building, extending more than one thousand feet as parents and children patiently waited in the heat to get inside the gym.
