Ramona Coats reads to school children from Stroud and Dibble in front of a bust of former Oklahoma Governor Martin Edwin Trapp in the Hall of Governors on the second floor of the capitol. Behind Coats is Rene Axtell, who took turns with Coats reading to groups of students. Trapp was governor from 1923 to 1927. Coats is reading "The Principal's Night Before Christmas." Both women are with the Oklahoma State Department of Education and are assistant state superintendents. School children from across the state came to the state Capitol to decorate 36 small Christmas trees in the hallways and rotunda. Gov. Mary Fallin and State Superintendent Janet Barresi joined Santa Claus in greeting the students at each tree after they were decorated. Many of the children stayed to watch the governor light the state Christmas tree on the south plaza on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012. Photo by Jim Beckel, The Oklahoman
