Red Andrews Christmas Dinner 2012 - Photo Gallery 26/28

David Graves, who said he is a homeless man living in Oklahoma City after his wife passed away several years ago, enjoys a hot meal and the shelter and warmth of the Cox Convention Center on Christmas Day. He said his life fell apart and he wasn't able to get things together without her. Graves went through the serving line twice and left with an extra plate of food for later. He spoke in extremely grateful terms about the volunteers who gave up part of their Christmas day to serve the homeless, the needy and those who are alone on this holiday. He said their offers to help made this day a very merry Christmas for him. Hundreds were served a traditional Christmas meal at the annual Red Andrews Dinner inside the Cox Convention Center on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2012. An army of volunteers showed up despite snow and ice and hazardous driving conditions. They accompanied each guest through the serving line and carried their trays and seated them at their tables. Other volunteers distributed a small mountain of toys and stuffed animals that were donated for the event. Photo by Jim Beckel, The Oklahoman
