Woodward twister: April 12, 2013 - Photo Gallery 20/23

Matt Lehenbauer, Emergency Management Director for Woodward County and the City of Woodward, looks inside this locked bin containing a bank of batteries that provide back-up power for one of the town's new warning sirens. Several of the community's older sirens were destroyed in last year's tornado. The city of Woodward has replaced its old sirens with new ones, featuring a modern and updated audible warning system. The siren rests near a county property barn in Woodward. Residents of Woodward, in northwest Oklahoma, observe the first anniversary of a deadly F3 tornado that caused serious damage and killed six people on April 15, 2012.
