Two native Oklahomans who are also Native Americans say they are working against the dangerous attitude in much of Indian country that diabetes is inevitable. Actor Wes Studi, a member of the Cherokee Nation, and Caitlin Baker, a Muscogee Creek, told the Senate Indian Affairs Committee that they're encouraging fellow Indians to change their lives to prevent the disease that kills three times as many Native Americans as other people.
