Oklahoma City Museum of Art to feature ‘Passages,' an exhibit of rare biblical texts and artifacts - Article Photos 7/8

OKLAHOMA CITY MUSEUM OF ART PASSAGES EXHIBIT: The Santa Cecilia Bible, Italy, Rome, 9-11c. This is the earliest surviving Latin Bible in private hands in the world. It contains the first two volumes of what was once a four-volume set. Volumes 3-4 are lost. The Bible was copied in the mid-9c and preserves the earliest example of the famous Alcuin Bible. The magnificent Latin manuscript is written in Latin on vellum in a Carolingian minuscule script. PHOTO PROVIDED
