Eight high school students participated in a collision avoidance training course put on by the Oklahoma City Police Department this weekend. The students, 16 to 19, received four hours of classroom instruction before taking to the training course for eight hours Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s training facility in northeast Oklahoma County. This the first time the course has been offered in Oklahoma, said Paul Burris, director and founder of the Florida-based nonprofit the National Traffic and Safety Academy.
