Volunteer Angela Owen ascends a pile of toys to locate two basketballs for a pair of boys waiting in the toy line. Owen said she has volunteered at the Red Andrews Dinner in past years, but said this is her first year to get to work in the gift distribution area. She was excited about this year's assignment; she said she liked working in the toy area because of the opportunity to talk to so many more people, especially the children. Hundreds were served a traditional Christmas meal at the annual Red Andrews Dinner inside the Cox Convention Center on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2012. An army of volunteers showed up despite snow and ice and hazardous driving conditions. They accompanied each guest through the serving line and carried their trays and seated them at their tables. Other volunteers distributed a small mountain of toys and stuffed animals that were donated for the event. Photo by Jim Beckel, The Oklahoman
