WORLD SERIES STATISTICS / MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL / STAT KEEPER: C.J. McDonald has kept stats for every game of the World Series for the past five decades. They are stored in five binders, each binder covering 10 World Series. This page is from the first game in the 1968 World Series, won by St. Louis over Detroit, 4-0. In this game, Cardinals pitcher Bob Gibson threw 144 pitches and collected 17 strikeouts, setting a record, which McDonald says still stands, for the most strikeouts by a pitcher in a single game of the World Series.
