Remi Long and Linda Feagan, far right, give ice cold Gatorade bottles to volunteers. Taking the bottled drink is US Army Capt. Erik Anthes, who drove to Moore with several fellow soldiers from the 1st battalion, 16th infantry regiment at Ft. Riley, KS. The girls are part of a group that came from the north Dallas area to help refresh volunteers. The bed of their truck was filled with cold beverages and light food, including beef jerky. They also brought a trailer loaded with toiletries and gloves to distribute. They are from a small town called Blue Ridge and they said the community organized a drive earlier in the week requesting donated items for the relief effort. Volunteers from various parts of the country joined Oklahomans in assisting residents on Saturday, May 25, 2013, doing whatever was needed to remove debris and salvage items from this neighborhood east of Santa Fe, north of SW 19 Street. An EF5 tornado leveled many neighborhoods in Moore and southwest Oklahoma City last Monday. Photo by Jim Beckel, The Oklahoman.
