Retired U.S. Army Gen. Tommy Franks selected Hobart to be the site for his museum of artifacts and memorabilia from around the world that reflects his distinguished career. Five historic buildings initially were secured and rehabilitated for the museum, which opened in 2009. Since then, two additional buildings have been acquired for museum expansion, including the old Peet?s Station, which was vacant and deteriorating. The museum attracts morej than 30,000 visitors a year. The State Historic Preservation Office commends the museum for the continued work. - PROVIDED BY STATE HISTORIC PRESE
