Article Photos: Fewer people registering for Susan G. Komen races 1/6

In this April 14, 2012, photo local race founders Joan Katz and Rozanne Rosenthal cheer on runners at the start of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Fort Worth, Texas. Nine of the years 135 races have been held so far, with eight reporting a drop in participation numbers ranging from around 10 percent to 30 percent, Fort Worth reporting about a 23 percent drop. While race organizers cite the economy and other possible contributing factors, there is also an acknowledgment of the effect of the Planned Parenthood debacle, which angered both people on both sides of the abortion debate.
