Iraq's Sunni VP receives new death sentence - Article Photos 2/2

FILE - Iraq's Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi speaks to the media as he leaves a meeting with Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, unseen, in Ankara, Turkey, in this Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012 file photo. An Iraqi court on Thursday Nov 1 2012 unexpectedly convicted the country's fugitive Sunni vice president on charges of instigating bodyguards to assassinate a senior government official and sentenced him to death. The verdict was the second death sentence for Tariq al-Hashemi in less than two months, and is likely to stoke further resentment among Iraq's minority Sunni Muslims against the Shiite-led government. The sentence is unlikely to be carried out any time soon because al-Hashemi has exiled himself in neighboring Turkey. (AP Photo/Burhan Ozbilici, file)
