Article Photos: Education battle tops Idaho news stories for 2012 10/15

This undated family photo released by the U.S. Forest Service shows Anne Veseth. The 20-year-old U.S. Forest Service firefighter died after she was struck by a falling tree in north-central Idaho, highlighting the dangerous jobs crews have as at least a dozen blazes continue to burn across the state. Veseth was killed on Sunday while helping extinguish the 43-acre Steep Corner fire near Orofino. She was killed when one tree fell and crashed into another tree, causing it to topple, too. Idaho experienced one of its worst wildfire seasons, with 1,151 wildfires tallied and a nation-leading 2,600 square miles burned, the most in the state since 2007, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.
