Gov't fails to issue rules on musical instruments - Article Photos 1/2

FILE - In this July 9, 2009 file photo, Musician Dave Carroll, of the pop-folk band Sons Of Maxwell, holds his repaired Taylor guitar in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Carroll became an Internet sensation after posting a revenge song about airline customer service on YouTube with his song "United Breaks Guitars." Federal regulators are striking a sour note with musicians and their congressional supporters. Two years ago Congress directed the Transportation Department to write rules requiring airlines to accommodate musicians traveling with their instruments by storing the instruments in closets and overhead bins where they fit. Musicians have long complained that airlines damage or lose instruments, or force travelers to check them as baggage. The rules are due Feb. 14, 2014,, but transportation officials haven’t started work on them. (AP Photo/The Canadian Press, Andrew Vaughan)
