*Shirley Powers Lewis, 61, of Stillwater was the wife of former Langston men's basketball coach Anthony Lewis. ... J.C. Clark, 81, of Oklahoma City played football at Britton High School and Connors Junior College. ... Luke Smith, 78, of Oklahoma City played football at Tecumseh High School and was a Golden Gloves boxer. ... Claude Heath, 84, of Midwest City captained the Prairie View High School basketball team. Also a standout baseball player.


*Paralympian Cassie Mitchell won the world title in women's shot put at the International Paralympic Committee Athletics World Championships in Lyon, France. The Warner native and Oklahoma State graduate also won bronze in the 800 meters and finished fourth in the discus. ... Jeremy Campbell, a paralympian who trains at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, won the world championship in the men's discus.

*Mary Beth Balcerak, 17, finished fourth in the women's high jump for ages 17-18 at the AAU Summer Olympics in Detroit. She competed against 58 others from the U.S. and its territories. Balcerak competes with the Plainview Summer Track Club. She will be a junior this fall at Pauls Valley High.
