Garden briefs: Kitchen tour set for Saturday

Check out the 18th annual Kitchen Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 2305 NW Grand Blvd. Presented by Oklahoma County Medical Society Alliance, each kitchen will feature local guest chefs, cooking demonstrations, luxury table settings and floral designs. Also on the tour will be a coffee bar, bake sale and a question-and-answer session with certified kitchen designer Karen Black-Sigler. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 the day of the event. Proceeds from the Kitchen Tour will benefit Schools for Healthy Lifestyles, Health Alliance for the Uninsured and Infant Crisis Services. For more information, call 858-4827.

GHASTLY GOOD TIME

The Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory, 301 W Reno, offers a ghastly good time at the Myriad Botanical Gardens’ annual Creepy Conservatory. This freaky and furry collection of exotic animals from around the globe includes an African tortoise and hedgehog, an Australian kangaroo, porcupines, snakes, spiders and more. The Creepy Conservatory is free with paid admission to Crystal Bridge. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Give a tree

You can add two trees to a national forest by joining the Arbor Day Foundation this month. Every new member will receive two free Give-a-Tree cards in time for the holidays. The cards are inscribed, “In your honor, a tree has been planted in a National Forest.” A six month membership costs $10; a year costs $15.
