Gardner-Webb outlasts MidAmerica Nazarene 30-28

BOILING SRPINGS, N.C. (AP) — Lucas Beatty hit Seth Cranfill in the end zone on fourth down with 6.4 seconds left in the game to lift Gardner-Webb to a 30-28 win over MidAmerica Nazarene on Saturday night.

MidAmerica Nazarene held a 28-23 lead but failed on a fourth-and-inches at its 31-yard line, turning the ball over to Gardner-Webb (1-5) with 1:11 left and no timeouts.

Beatty passed for 193 yards and two touchdowns, but he threw two interceptions, and Juanne Blount rushed for 86 yards and two scores.

Sean Ransburg was the offensive star for the Pioneers (4-2), going 17-of-25 passing for 205 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 100 yards and one score, that coming on a 49-yard dash early in the fourth quarter for the 28-23 lead.

The only other ball-carrier for the Pioneers was Greg Gates with 92 yards. Brett Houchen caught two touchdown passes.
