Emergency crews evacuated a number of homes in northeast Oklahoma City because of a gas leak Tuesday morning.

Oklahoma City Fire Department Maj. Tammy McKinney said six homes near NE 48 and Prospect were evacuated about 11 a.m. because of a leak in a gas line.

Oklahoma Natural Gas crews were able to cap the leak shortly after noon, allowing families to return to their homes.

ONG crews are still at the site of the leak assessing the problem and making repairs.
