Norman police are allowing traffic back on 24th Avenue NW between Main Street and Boardwalk Street.

Oklahoma Natural Gas and Norman Fire Department personnel are still on scene repairing the gas leak, police reported.

— A natural gas leak in northwest Norman has prompted road closures and evacuations, police reported.

Norman police evacuated four businesses northwest of 24th Avenue NW and W Main Street, Norman police Capt. Tom Easley said.

Police closed 24th Avenue NW north of Main to southbound traffic and are detouring traffic off onto Hemphill or Broadway to the west, he said. Travel north of Main and 24th Avenue NW is discouraged.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area altogether, Easley said.

Oklahoma Natural Gas is responding to the gas leak with heavy equipment, he said.
