PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Gas prices have jumped 7 cents in Rhode island, to a new average this week of $3.71 per gallon for regular.

In its weekly survey released Monday, AAA Southern New England says that's a penny higher than the national average of $3.70 per gallon.

The price of a gallon of gas has risen 6 percent since last year at this time. A year ago, gas was $3.50 per gallon in Rhode Island. It's up 21 cents per gallon since then.
