And Bradford had the opposite greeting Florida quarterback Tim Tebow received prior to the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards show in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

To the cacophony of Florida fans taunting "Gator bait” and chomping their arms, the Oklahoma quarterback quickly made it inside the Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney’s Boardwalk for the show.

Moments later, Tebow appeared on the red carpet to a thunderous ovation with chants of "Tebow, Tebow.”

"I heard a couple Gator fans talking noise already,” Bradford said. "It was fun. I’ve never done anything like that before.”

As for the show itself, little light was shed on who might win the Heisman Trophy on Saturday, as Heisman finalists Bradford, Tebow and Texas quarterback Colt McCoy all left Orlando with one of the three major trophies.

Bradford won the O’Brien, the first Sooner to do so since Jason White won the award in 2003 and 2004.

"It really is a big honor, especially knowing Jason White won it,” said Bradford, who by throwing for 48 touchdowns this year broke White’s school record for touchdowns in a season and in a career.

"Following in his footsteps to win this award feels great.”

McCoy, also an O’Brien finalist, was named the Walter Camp Player of the Year.

And Tebow for the second consecutive year won the Maxwell Award, which is given to the outstanding all-around player.

"It shows the diversity in college football,” Tebow said of the three quarterbacks splitting honors. "I think it’s a great thing.”

Today, the three quarterbacks will fly to New York for what should be one of the all-time closest Heisman races.

National pre-Heisman polls suggest that Bradford is a slim favorite, but both Tebow, last year’s Heisman winner, and McCoy appear to have received strong consideration from Heisman voters.

"I have no idea about that,” Bradford said when asked about his chances of winning the Heisman. "Similar to being invited here, it’s just an honor to be invited to New York, especially with Colt and Tim. They’re great players.

"This whole trip has been fun, especially getting to meet those guys.”

Ya, the UT fans need to shut up. They are annoying. Get ready to play Ohio State, stop whining or you just may lose that game. As for Tomi, however, UT has won 3 of the last 4 against OU. The 5 game winning streak you were talking about ended 4 years ago. Try to find something else to rub in UT's face, the last few years, UT has been the dominant team. I still think OU wins the game over UF by 4.

Classless OU fans discussing how they have been treated without class!

What are those old sayings. Oh yes, "What goes around comes around," and "You will reap what you sow."

On January 8 we will see if these "theories" play out on the field.

david, fresno - Dec 13, 2008 at 12:09 pm
Sadly most of the loyal "fans" and coaches of OU never went to OU. Sadder still OU grads put in charge are rejected by the never went to school OU fans. Steve Owens, fired. Gary Gibbs, fired. John Blake, fired. If OU is so great why do we have to hire someone from Florida to coach our football team?

I would like to know what Rick, Cooter, or whoever said early this morning, but I guess this joke of a paper decided we're not allowed. I read a couple of their posts earlier and wanted to show someone what idiots they were, and there was no profanity, cursing, or anything. Unless all anyone has to do is just click inappropriate. Kind of defeats the purpose.

Steve, Ketchum - Dec 12, 2008 at 10:13 pm
Well, Matt, I've just been to three OU Texas games, but I never mistook being in the state of Texas the whole time I was down in Dallas. Texas folks were nice enough though and I never had an incident. If Texas and their fans had to come to Oklahoma every year to see their team play, I would suppose they would feel a little out of place also. I quoted from Barry Switzer who said, "Texas doesn't have to cross the Red River to play OU in Dallas." Barry had a reason, whatever it was, to make that statement. Florida will not have to leave the cozy confines of its own state to play in the Big Game. The stands thankfully will have many OU fans, but Florida will have many more fans. They could nearly drive down on game day and play us! In this day and age of parity, you need any "edge" you can get! Go OU!

Mike WOO HOO on this...TX is not in the NC they played subpar the 2nd half of the season and get the Fiesta which should have gone to Tech! As I told your pal Joe in Austin tatoo that OU/TX and TT/TX score on your arse and bring the whine with you to the Red River Rivalry so that we can hear you 2 bawlbags cry how your Longhorns got cheated...by then we will have our 8th NC banner UNDISPUTED #1 in ALL POLLS...again TX is 2nd and Mack is a 1st class crybaby, man that is something to be proud of!

First of all, Michael, I have lots of time to watch whatever I want, because I am self employed and am always at home, working on my laptop. I work when I want, as often or as little as I want, and where I want, and more than likely, I make more money in a month then you do in a year! So, I have plenty of time to watch the games. I'd rather watch the games that are reruns because they don't play new ones 7 days a week, then watch your soap operas. 24x7 football baby.

Mike, Texas did not STOP OU on the fake punt, we did that ourselves... Shoot, it was 4th and forever, and Knoll got all of it but like a few inches, and if Gresham had just hit that guy in the face right in front of him, he would have made it. If you stuffed Knoll way back by the line of scrimmage or just a few yards past it, then you could talk. But when a great Tight End is standing right there, what is his job??? BLOCK, he failed, and we missed by a very short margin.

Texas kicked our a..? How many touchdowns did Colt throw for? Oh yeah, 1. Yes he ran for 2, but it was not like he ran for 40 or 50 yards on each carry. He got knocked around all over that game, until Ryan Reynolds got cheated out of the rest of this year because of a blindside on his knee. The players get scouting reports they know of injuries, which is exactly why Bob Stoops does not like letting people know about them if they might play! Too bad the media does not follow that so they don't 'arm' the other teams! Texas would hate it if Colt got a hurt knee, but played through it, then some guy blindsided his knee after the ball was already gone. yes Ryan Reynolds was not a QB, and so they can hit him to 'block', but the ball was no where near him, that was blatant and NOT a block. I'm sure the Texas guy had no intent of knocking him out of his season, probably just the game or half, at any rate, it ruined his season and OU's game plan.

Texas won, but OU outplayed Texas.
Richard, Mc - Dec 12, 2008 at 4:41 pm
I know this sounds crazy, but could OU be this year's Boise St when it comes to the BCS national championship game? It seems everywhere I turn whether it'd be in the media, sports blogs, and national news organizations that OU doesn't stand a chance against Fla. At the onset, the line starts at one and then immediately jumps to three. You had a columnist come out after the BCS title game was announced, and he said that " the real national title game had already been played in the SEC conference final between Fla and Ala." Anyway, good going Sam Bradford and keep the good times rolling. Boomer Sooner!!!

To Hook'Em,
How many National Championships do the Longhorns have or for that matter Big 12 Championships...OU has proven they deserve to be in the BCS Championship game, and as for Big Game Bob...he won a National Championship his second year at OU...how long did it take Mack?? We all know the BCS is flawed but it is the system in place and all the teams agreed to having the BCS rankings determine the winner...Something else...I think all three of these guys are deserving of the Heisman and not only for their play on the field but their conduct off the field. All three of them are outstanding young men. I am an avid OU fan and of-course I hate Texas...I have to, but Colt McCoy is an outstanding player and person...and on October 11th for one game...Texas was better and deserved to win....however, OU is the better team now!! I wish good luck to all Big 12 teams in bowl play...it is good for our conference to make it to the big games, and to Mike...I wouldn't call the 45-35 scoere a "thumping"...I WOULD call 65-21 one!!

I know that's all speculative ... but I also know Texas has as many weapons as OU.. Giving Colt this shield of greatness, that he carries his team without any weapons is ESPN's way of hating on OU.
It's so blatant & untrue.. I really think recent bowl losses has soured any attraction they may have had once with the program. "Cold is the leading rusher" not because they don't have any great running backs, most of the time he's running for his life !

Michael, you are 100% native american? If you were as educated as you claim to be you would know that seperate Indian tribes constantly had disputes over territory after THEY migrated from Asia, so who does it belong to?

Also, if you were so concerned about the treatment of native americans I would think you would harbor much more ill-will towards states in the SE for the trail of tears.

Sooners didnt cheat native americans, they cheated Boomers, who, from a native american perspective, had no more right to it than the Sooners did. So here we are, lets just give it to the buffalo I guess.

David, all it means is that recruiting rankings dont mean anything. Bradford was a 3 star guy. Notre Dame has had a top class the last 2 or 3 years too, they are looking for their first bowl win in over a decade.

Jeff, I still have not received a good explination of why the Cotton Bowl is not a neutral site? Both teams travel the same distance. The number of fans are equal, even in the fair and around Dallas it seems pretty close to me, at least on that day. Is there something different with the air? They cant play the game in a vacuum. If it is not a home and home, both teams will have to travel. The only way to have both teams travel equal distances and NOT have it in Texas is to move it to New Mexico or Louisiana or something. The "not a neutral site" argument doesnt hold any water. The number of fans means EVERYTHING. I suppose you call the games where we have played in Tulsa true road games even though OU fans far outnumbered Tulsa fans. Likewise, when Tulsa came to Norman it must have been a neutral site. They WERE in the same state.

However, my priorities tell me that a football team should not be included in the national anthem. God, Family and Friends, Country, Career..... Somewhere down the line is football.

Will Stoops have the Sooners ready this year? I hope so. For the past few years it seems like the team just isn't ready to play. If that is the case this year they will be Gator bait. I remember back when Coach Wilkinson was there that practices were not going to his satisfaction. He had us doing wind sprints and other drills on the traffic island outside the hotel in Miami at night. That got everyone's attention. I hope Stoops does not have to to that but he needs to make sure the players are focused and not reading about themselves in the papers or watching TVs and looking at their trophies they may have won. Stoops' reputation is on the line and more importantly the reputation of Sooner football. If Florida proves it is the superior team and scores more than OU then I and most fans can accept it. However, if the team is not ready to play and gets beat that will be unacceptable again. BEAT FLORIDA!!! GO SOONERS!!!!

Michael, in regards to this comment:
> around here when Texas thumped them this year

Texas did NOT thump Oklahoma this year. If you feel that way, you did not watch the game. I've seen it more than 6 times and every time it is the same... I don't notice anything new, Oklahoma Intercepts Texas in the end zone, hits then ground, rolls then lets go of the ball, and they give it back to Texas and then they score...
McCoy keeps the ball on 3rd and long runs and is knocked out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage, maybe a yard over it, but is going out of bounds, an OU defender is trying to hold him up so he don't get hurt and the officials flag him for it, they give Texas 1st and 10, instead of 4th and long and having to punt, then Texas goes down and scores.

Another time, 3rd and long, McCoy keeps it again, gets knocked out of bounds short of the 1st down, and they flagged the guy again, even though he did not hit McCoy out of bounds! Again, instead of 4th down and punting, they gave Texas 1st and 10, they go down and score again.

The score ended up in Texas favor by 10, but the way it worked out, the Officials, again showing Bias against Oklahoma, gave Texas more than 10 points. Of course we don't know what would have happened if the officials would have got those 3 calls right, but the way Oklahoma scores I bet they would have won by more than 10. Geeze, Sam Bradford threw 5 TD passes!!
Also, a Texas Defender blindsided Ryan Reynolds, on a play not even near the ball, and Oklahoma Loses Reynolds for the year. Then they had a harder time stoping Texas from getting to their 45.
So did Texas win? Yes.
Did Texas Thump Oklahoma? No Way!
Did Texas BEAT Oklahoma? No, the score shows they did, but the game was all Oklahoma, until Ryan Got hurt.

Degredation of the National Anthem? Seriously? To SOME Oklahomans, it IS the "land of the Sooners". Geez. Get a life.

Lake Buena Vista just another word for Disney World. And the awards we given out at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex on the DW property. Its fitting that all this took place in the land of make believe. Its where people can put on their mickey hats and start acting goofey, especially Florida fans. But the reality is that all three men will have an NFL future but none are guaranteed success. One thing is 100 percent for true, no Heisman winner has made it in the NFL in several years. The closest was Adrian Peters in 04 and he didn't win.
Sparky (Mark), Oklahoma City - Dec 12, 2008 at 10:39 am
I too think that Harrell deserved to be invited to go to New York. And as far as OU fans being "classless"....it's "classless" to get on here and make disparaging remarks, and to say it's "all Sooner fans". If you don't like/agree with the news stories on here, go elsewhere!

I want to pass along a story, when we went to the Sugar Bowl game against LSU. All the sooner fans heard was tigerbait every time we turned around. I got irritated by that and started hollering back that
LSU was our kitty litter, I know it was childish but it was fun. I did that on a trolley after a LSU fan said it too us again as he was driving by, there we're several Sooners on this trolly. When I responded back to him he just about rear-ended the vehicle in front of him. I know it could have been very serious but it sure was fun to get a little pay back. So all the Sooners in Miami come up with some phrase before you go to Miami, trust me you'll enjoy the experience more also when Florida State was chanting their stupid chant at the end of the game the Sooners we're chanting too O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A. This year is shaping up the same way. The Florida gators are talking an awful lot just like a (HUMMINGATOR - definition of a HumminGator it's an idividual with a Big Mouth and no backside. All talk and no bite
No. 14 won it in 2000 and No. 14 is going to win it again GO SOONERS

OU fans give what they get...and have a long memory. UT< OSU< CU Miami, OU fans dont hold back. Nebraska fans have always said, great fans, class rivalry etc.

Seems like (with the exception of UT) most fans of the "other teams" do not have a tradition of winning and have not learned how to win or lose with class. At the Boise State game, BSU fans were even worse the any CU fan. Drunk, vulgar and without a clue. When the half time show introduced wouned in combat vets from Iraq, they booed... All the OU fans stood and gave a standing O...Class, it is learned and earned.

I didnt say he deserved to win it David, just to go to New York. They always invite guys that have no shot. Till this year. He may be a product of the system, but he also has a less talented team, outside of Crabtree, than these other QB's. Just saying he deserved a little love too. Basically lost everything at OU; no national title, no conference title, no individual awards, and a trip to the crummy cotton bowl. At least next year it moves to Arlington, but outside of OU/Texas I would never want to go to the Cotton Bowl

Could you guys be more the definition of "sour grapes"? Gotta love Rick, though. If you're gonna be sour, might as well make some money on it.

I travel in SEC country a lot for business and yes they do love their football but yes the majority are morons, it's that simple. You cannot have an actual football discussion with them because they always have their SEC blinders on. I also lived in Lincoln, NE for 4 years and I will say they are the most classy fans I ever met. I wore my OU gear all the time to home games and they loved that, they also loved and missed Barry Switzer. They definitely are true college football fans!

Harrell is both a product and a victim of the offense at TTU. It dictates an inflated result in stats at the QB position. He deserves credit for running it sucessfully but not the Heisman.
david, Newcastle - Dec 12, 2008 at 9:24 am
As a Sooner who lives in Tampa, the greeting Sam got is no surprise. Gator fans make Colorado fans looklike class acts. No wonder I always look forward to Oklahoma and Nebraska where the fans treat each other warmly and realize while a rivalry, in the end it is only a football game.
jeffery, Tampa - Dec 12, 2008 at 9:23 am
I agree that Harrell should be in the mix, too. I think all of the athletes last night showed a lot of class. I can't wait to see OU play Florida.

I doubt if OU was favored Rick or Cooter would be jumping on the wagon. More like falling off the wagon. And OU fans stay classy too. You can't say "stay classy, gator fans" and then call the voters "SOB a-holes" at the same time.
tyler, yukon - Dec 12, 2008 at 8:55 am
No, you are right, he did get snubbed. I think his last two games (baylor, ou) were on TV and his performance was less that stellar. Even against TU, Sam was still great...

I think the stupid "product of the system" stigma will haunt all TT QBs. I dont agree with that perception. TT is just (not yet anyway) on the national radar, year in and year out....He should have been given the chance to enjoy the moment too.

Am I the only one that feels like Graham Harrell got the shaft? I know he wasnt going to win, but at least an invite to recognize his ability. Statistically, he is right up there with Bradford and better than McCoy. The only passing stat McCoy leads the other two in is completion %. Not trying to slight McCoy, I just think Harrell should be there. You could tell he was dissappointed too on that show. Dissappointing as an individual to have it all in front of you, national title, heisman (at least an invite), and have one game take it away.

Rick and Cooter obviously spend more time in the sports world of winners. Pineing their time trying to envision what it must be like to be in this position year after year. Reading about loosers and 4th place, sinking BB, wrestling, must be so sad. I enjoy their limited creativity. Small minds can only repeat.

Bill, I agree, the table is being set.

Is Sylvester Stallone writing this script? Recall the Russian Machine and Rocky? Man, I am chomping at the bit for this one to happen. I remember the years when the University of Miami thugs (sometimes referred to as fans) dumped on their Sooner guests, like the Sooner Pride's female members and the school buses. What Boomer and Sooner are going to dump on these Gators will be so nice to watch. A Native American Goes Back to exact a little Pay Back.

It's amazing how an article about how a kid is awarded for over-achieving can turn into a troll's wonderland, isn't it? Of course, none of these guys ever played and never attend any of the local sporting events. To them, it's just something to comment on. I'm reminded of the south park episode where the kids are playing WoW. I picture these guys as the old fat guy who they were playing against. Word.

After getting autographs Wednesday evening from the 2008 BIG XII Football CHAMPS those players ALL exhibited a collective "WE ARE READY FOR FLORIDA AND TEBOW" makes a BOOMER SOONER fan feel that OU's chances for TITLE NUMBER "8" are a REALITY...
Ricky, Norman - Dec 12, 2008 at 7:06 am
Everything is falling in place. ESPN has Florida up on this golden pedistal. Tebow is superman,a "real sec defense". OU 62 Florida 24 sorry lizards. #8 is headed to Norman Okla.

Stay classy, gator fans. What a bunch of punks. Actually, I like how this game is setting up: OU as underdogs, in Fla, all of the attention on Tebow (who might win the heisman)...remind you of a certain year?

Gresham not winning the mackey - that's amazing. These SOB a-holes who are in charge of that one need to be fired.

Rick a.k.a. Cooter, is nothing but a troll. He has nothing that he likes, i'm sure if OU was favored to win he would jump on the OU bandwagon with the rest of the people like himself. Too bad the only games he knows of are the ones that people have talked about on here, i'm sure he has just happened to forget Stoops' lifetime bowl record at OU. Rick you're a loser.

Sam Bradford is a class act, just like Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy. As an OSU fan, I'll be rooting for Bradford... but in my opinion, all 3 have earned it, regardless of who wins.
