And Bradford had the opposite greeting Florida quarterback
Tim Tebow received prior to the
Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards show in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
To the cacophony of Florida fans taunting "Gator bait” and chomping their arms, the
Oklahoma quarterback quickly made it inside the Atlantic
Dance Hall at
Disney’s Boardwalk for the show.
Moments later, Tebow appeared on the red carpet to a thunderous ovation with chants of "Tebow, Tebow.”
"I heard a couple Gator fans talking noise already,” Bradford said. "It was fun. I’ve never done anything like that before.”
As for the show itself, little light was shed on who might win the
Heisman Trophy on Saturday, as Heisman finalists Bradford, Tebow and
Texas quarterback
Colt McCoy all left
Orlando with one of the three major trophies.
Bradford won the O’Brien, the first Sooner to do so since
Jason White won the award in 2003 and 2004.
"It really is a big honor, especially knowing Jason White won it,” said Bradford, who by throwing for 48 touchdowns this year broke White’s school record for touchdowns in a season and in a career.
"Following in his footsteps to win this award feels great.”
McCoy, also an O’Brien finalist, was named the
Walter Camp Player of the Year.
And Tebow for the second consecutive year won the Maxwell Award, which is given to the outstanding all-around player.
"It shows the diversity in college football,” Tebow said of the three quarterbacks splitting honors. "I think it’s a great thing.”
Today, the three quarterbacks will fly to
New York for what should be one of the all-time closest Heisman races.
National pre-Heisman polls suggest that Bradford is a slim favorite, but both Tebow, last year’s Heisman winner, and McCoy appear to have received strong consideration from Heisman voters.
"I have no idea about that,” Bradford said when asked about his chances of winning the Heisman. "Similar to being invited here, it’s just an honor to be invited to New York, especially with Colt and Tim. They’re great players.
"This whole trip has been fun, especially getting to meet those guys.”

Classless OU fans discussing how they have been treated without class!
What are those old sayings. Oh yes, "What goes around comes around," and "You will reap what you sow."
On January 8 we will see if these "theories" play out on the field.
ttech-45, minn-14
all texas fans can say is 45-35! well, i'll take a big12 3peat and a NC birth anytime. keep your beloved 45-35, it was a game played in october that we lost: but where are you in january? and yall better get ready for beenie wells, he's gonna rush for about 175 and 3 td's. OSU will beat ut 45-35. colt will come up short"horn" again!!!!!!and that score will haunt yall for a long time!!!!(B)oomer (C)hampionship (S)ooner
7 National Championships...
42 Conference Championships....
5 straight wins over your Longhorns!!
Nuff said!!
I can't believe out of everything I said in my previous post that the only think you took out of it was that it was an A$$ kickin...what you got from Texas A&M the last two years was an A$$ kickin...I can be obnoxious too...I gave Texas their props and that was my mistake...
Boomer Sooner!!
Woo Hoo
Chokeohoma......
We still kicked your A$$, that will never change.
Go Gators.....
See you in Miami. Oh, that is right. OU is going and not your shorthorns. Enough said.
Typical Sooner ( ignorant ), watch the games a few more times and you'll convince yourself the Sooners won the game. Sooners outplayed the Horns? Surely you are not watching the 2008 game?
Get real Gooners, you lost the game big time.
Mike, Texas did not STOP OU on the fake punt, we did that ourselves... Shoot, it was 4th and forever, and Knoll got all of it but like a few inches, and if Gresham had just hit that guy in the face right in front of him, he would have made it. If you stuffed Knoll way back by the line of scrimmage or just a few yards past it, then you could talk. But when a great Tight End is standing right there, what is his job??? BLOCK, he failed, and we missed by a very short margin.
Texas kicked our a..? How many touchdowns did Colt throw for? Oh yeah, 1. Yes he ran for 2, but it was not like he ran for 40 or 50 yards on each carry. He got knocked around all over that game, until Ryan Reynolds got cheated out of the rest of this year because of a blindside on his knee. The players get scouting reports they know of injuries, which is exactly why Bob Stoops does not like letting people know about them if they might play! Too bad the media does not follow that so they don't 'arm' the other teams! Texas would hate it if Colt got a hurt knee, but played through it, then some guy blindsided his knee after the ball was already gone. yes Ryan Reynolds was not a QB, and so they can hit him to 'block', but the ball was no where near him, that was blatant and NOT a block. I'm sure the Texas guy had no intent of knocking him out of his season, probably just the game or half, at any rate, it ruined his season and OU's game plan.
Texas won, but OU outplayed Texas.
How many National Championships do the Longhorns have or for that matter Big 12 Championships...OU has proven they deserve to be in the BCS Championship game, and as for Big Game Bob...he won a National Championship his second year at OU...how long did it take Mack?? We all know the BCS is flawed but it is the system in place and all the teams agreed to having the BCS rankings determine the winner...Something else...I think all three of these guys are deserving of the Heisman and not only for their play on the field but their conduct off the field. All three of them are outstanding young men. I am an avid OU fan and of-course I hate Texas...I have to, but Colt McCoy is an outstanding player and person...and on October 11th for one game...Texas was better and deserved to win....however, OU is the better team now!! I wish good luck to all Big 12 teams in bowl play...it is good for our conference to make it to the big games, and to Mike...I wouldn't call the 45-35 scoere a "thumping"...I WOULD call 65-21 one!!
To Hook'em - go big 12. hope all 6 teams win. As for your opinions, they are like cattle, they both stink.
It's so blatant & untrue.. I really think recent bowl losses has soured any attraction they may have had once with the program. "Cold is the leading rusher" not because they don't have any great running backs, most of the time he's running for his life !
Also, if you were so concerned about the treatment of native americans I would think you would harbor much more ill-will towards states in the SE for the trail of tears.
Sooners didnt cheat native americans, they cheated Boomers, who, from a native american perspective, had no more right to it than the Sooners did. So here we are, lets just give it to the buffalo I guess.
David, all it means is that recruiting rankings dont mean anything. Bradford was a 3 star guy. Notre Dame has had a top class the last 2 or 3 years too, they are looking for their first bowl win in over a decade.
Somebody is a big fat liar. ?? !! ??
idiot
Unfortunately for you, the Sooners are the only team capable of representing Oklahoma on a national level. Have fun watching your team in the RedHeadedStepchild.com Bowl.
So now we are the "Land of the Land Thieves"?
Great, just what I wanted for Christmas. To be thrown in a category of a school that prides itself in being named after people who lie, cheat and steal.
Although it is a fitting title
However, my priorities tell me that a football team should not be included in the national anthem. God, Family and Friends, Country, Career..... Somewhere down the line is football.
If yours looks much different you should re-examine your life. I wouldnt put Sooners in a hymn at church, nor would I be chanting U-S-A!
schemes they will be OK.
TTU did beat TU, whole of game, they led until 1:29 left!
It is a game of inches...some are longer inches than others. (contrary to the notion that 1" = 1".
You say you saw the game 6 times? Funny how you failed to mention that the first OU TD was short of the goal line. That would of been a 4th down as well had the officials realized that was not a TD. Funny how you only see what you want to see.
> around here when Texas thumped them this year
Texas did NOT thump Oklahoma this year. If you feel that way, you did not watch the game. I've seen it more than 6 times and every time it is the same... I don't notice anything new, Oklahoma Intercepts Texas in the end zone, hits then ground, rolls then lets go of the ball, and they give it back to Texas and then they score...
McCoy keeps the ball on 3rd and long runs and is knocked out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage, maybe a yard over it, but is going out of bounds, an OU defender is trying to hold him up so he don't get hurt and the officials flag him for it, they give Texas 1st and 10, instead of 4th and long and having to punt, then Texas goes down and scores.
Another time, 3rd and long, McCoy keeps it again, gets knocked out of bounds short of the 1st down, and they flagged the guy again, even though he did not hit McCoy out of bounds! Again, instead of 4th down and punting, they gave Texas 1st and 10, they go down and score again.
The score ended up in Texas favor by 10, but the way it worked out, the Officials, again showing Bias against Oklahoma, gave Texas more than 10 points. Of course we don't know what would have happened if the officials would have got those 3 calls right, but the way Oklahoma scores I bet they would have won by more than 10. Geeze, Sam Bradford threw 5 TD passes!!
Also, a Texas Defender blindsided Ryan Reynolds, on a play not even near the ball, and Oklahoma Loses Reynolds for the year. Then they had a harder time stoping Texas from getting to their 45.
So did Texas win? Yes.
Did Texas Thump Oklahoma? No Way!
Did Texas BEAT Oklahoma? No, the score shows they did, but the game was all Oklahoma, until Ryan Got hurt.

LSU was our kitty litter, I know it was childish but it was fun. I did that on a trolley after a LSU fan said it too us again as he was driving by, there we're several Sooners on this trolly. When I responded back to him he just about rear-ended the vehicle in front of him. I know it could have been very serious but it sure was fun to get a little pay back. So all the Sooners in Miami come up with some phrase before you go to Miami, trust me you'll enjoy the experience more also when Florida State was chanting their stupid chant at the end of the game the Sooners we're chanting too O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A. This year is shaping up the same way. The Florida gators are talking an awful lot just like a (HUMMINGATOR - definition of a HumminGator it's an idividual with a Big Mouth and no backside. All talk and no bite
No. 14 won it in 2000 and No. 14 is going to win it again GO SOONERS
Seems like (with the exception of UT) most fans of the "other teams" do not have a tradition of winning and have not learned how to win or lose with class. At the Boise State game, BSU fans were even worse the any CU fan. Drunk, vulgar and without a clue. When the half time show introduced wouned in combat vets from Iraq, they booed... All the OU fans stood and gave a standing O...Class, it is learned and earned.
Could you guys be more the definition of "sour grapes"? Gotta love Rick, though. If you're gonna be sour, might as well make some money on it.
I think the stupid "product of the system" stigma will haunt all TT QBs. I dont agree with that perception. TT is just (not yet anyway) on the national radar, year in and year out....He should have been given the chance to enjoy the moment too.
Bill, I agree, the table is being set.
Gresham not winning the mackey - that's amazing. These SOB a-holes who are in charge of that one need to be fired.
