The displays will include 10,000 ornaments, 2,300 feet of garland, 5,600 wreaths, train sets, a life-size gingerbread house, a 50-foot rotating Christmas tree and Santa's workshop. The lighting ceremony is free and open to the public.
The resort's ICE! attraction, created with 2 million pounds of ice and kept at a wintry 9 degrees, opens Friday morning. The 14,000-square-foot exhibit features ice sculptures, 10-foot-tall ornaments, a giant Santa Claus, a candy room, an animal band and Santa and his reindeer flying over four ice slides.
The ICE! attraction will be open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For ticket information, go online to www.gaylordtexan.com or call (817) 778-1000.

I'm trying to figure out how "our" turnpike dollars are used in by a private company in Grapevine, Texas. Oklahoma turnpikes are managed and maintained by OTA and the only private company involved is Transcorp who maintains the electronics aspect. The only turnpike near Grapevine is the International Parkway Turnpike (121) that runs down the middle of the airport. As for Gaylord Entertainment supporting Oklahoma, its not an Oklahoma based company, it is based in Nashville. It has no incentive or desire to support its publishing group and in fact would rather keep a distance from them. If you really want to know, the display does indirectly benefit Oklahoma through the personal income taxes paid by the shareholders who live in Oklahoma. Not to mention the retail purchases made by the share holders who live in places like Gaillardia. Grapevine is a nice city. Their Bass Pro has a hotel and restaurant. Grapevine mall is the best in the world as it is designed in a full circle instead of the four square design. You enter and turn left or right and just walk until you wind up back at the same spot. The most unique place to eat is Rain Forest Cafe. It erupts in activity every 45 minutes or so. It starts to rain, fog, the animals come to life, the chimps swing from trees, and the elephants go crazy all around your table.
