The oldest high school wrestling tournament in the country will take place once again this weekend with the 70th annual Geary Tournament at Geary High School. The 24-team field features at least one team from each class (3A-6A), two from Texas, and one from New Mexico. Of the 21 Oklahoma schools, 12 are currently ranked in the top 10 of their class.
There is no seeding of wrestlers at the tournament. The brackets for each weight class are random, so some of the top wrestlers in the state could face each other in the opening session.
Here is the tournament schedule:
*First session, 11:30 a.m.: Pigtails and championship first round.
*Second session, 6 p.m.: Championship quarterfinals, consolation pigtails, and first-round consolation.
*Third session, 10 a.m.: Championship semifinals and consolation semifinals.
*Fourth session, 6 p.m.: Medal matches and second place challenge matches.
