NewsOK 11:46 a.m. Hey everyone. George will be logging in at 1 p.m. to chat, but you can start submitting your questions now.
NewsOK 11:46 a.m. Anything is on the table. Oscars, OKC music and movies or upcoming concerts or shows across Oklahoma.
George Lang 12:58 p.m. Thanks for joining in on this special live chat - we're talking Oscars, but I can address just about anything else for your weekend entertainment. Let's do it!
Jennifer 12:58 p.m. Think any Okies will walk away with a win at the Oscars?
George Lang 1:02 p.m. There might be some technical awards this time for Oklahomans, but what we're really looking at for Oklahoma-related awards -- i.e. the ones that were filmed here.
George Lang 1:03 p.m. In this case, there are two major acting awards on the table: a best supporting actress nomination for Julia Roberts and a best actress nomination for Meryl Streep for "August: Osage County."
George Lang 1:09 p.m. Personally, I don't think that either has much of a chance this time, despite strong performances in "AOC." There's just too much strong competition in both categories this year. Best Actress is probably going to either Cate Blanchett or Sandra Bullock (my prediction, Bullock wins in a photo finish) and supporting is going to go to either Lupita N'yongo of "12 Years a Slave" or Jennifer Lawrence of "American Hustle" (slight edge to Lawrence on this one, though my colleague, Brandy McDonnell, thinks it goes the other way).
Heather 1:09 p.m. Aside from Josh Sallee, any other rap or hip hop artists from Oklahoma you like?
George Lang 1:12 p.m. First off is Jabee -- the man's got a distinctive delivery and he's been doing first-rate work for years now. I highly recommend his new album, "Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt." He recently signed to the Murs 316 label and toured with El-P and Killer Mike on the "Run the Jewels" tour. He's ready to go big.
George Lang 1:14 p.m. But beyond that, I'm also a huge fan of Johnny Polygon, who's originally from Tulsa -- check out "The Nothing," his album from last year, and 2010's "Rebel Without Applause." He's endlessly creative and you should definitely check out both albums.
George Lang 1:19 p.m. Also, last year at Norman Music Festival I saw Myke Brown perform, and I was really impressed with him, as well. He has amazing flow. Oklahoma hip-hop is getting ready to blow up.
George Lang 1:20 p.m. And I don't want to leave out ADDverse Effects. Last I heard, they're relocating to Portland, Oregon, but they're playing NMF this year. If you love live hip-hop -- full band, live instruments -- you must see ADDverse Effects.
George Lang 1:21 p.m. Thanks for your questions! Be sure to check out Brandy McDonnell's live blog of the Oscars and my live tweets. Cheers and have a great weekend!
