Georgetown (Texas) QB to walk on at Oklahoma State

The immediate replacement on the depth chart for departed quarterback Wes Lunt is … Jake Hubenak?

That’s likely a stretch. But the Cowboys have added a signal-caller, as the incoming freshman from Georgetown (Texas) Georgetown announced via Twitter Tuesday that he will walk on at OSU.

Hubenak, who went 19-1 in his career as Georgetown’s starter, threw for more than 5,500 yards as a senior and quarterbacked Georgetown to the Class 4A Division I state championship game.

So why the lack of recruiting interest from major programs?

A season-ending knee injury early in Hubenak’s junior campaign, a prime time in a prospect’s evaluation process, likely hurt his recruiting. At 6-3 and 185 pounds, Hubenak was rated a two-star prospect by Scout in the 2013 class. He drew interest from TCU and Houston but did not receive a scholarship offer from either school.
