STILLWATER — The countdown began in the Oklahoma State football locker room months ago. And in case you’re scoring at home, it’s 103 days until OSU-Georgia at Boone Pickens Stadium.

So that leaves a good 14 weeks for fans to prepare for the Bulldogs and plan a tailgating feast the likes of which would bring John Madden out of retirement.

For the latter, I recommend anything — and everything — you can put barbecue sauce on. Can’t go wrong.

For the Bulldogs, let’s try a little more detailed approach.

The timing and effect of this game couldn’t have worked out better for OSU. With a 9-4 record and a respectable mid-season rise into the top 10 last season, the Pokes are drumming up all kinds of national press for the football program heading into the fall, and they’ll sustain that attention level throughout the summer months for two reasons.

One is the depth of talent OSU returns, particularly at the offensive skill positions with Zac Robinson, Dez Bryant and Kendall Hunter. The other reason is the Georgia game Sept. 5.

While most major-conference teams are playing Who Cares Community College, the Cowboys and Dawgs will be among the featured performers on the first weekend of football.

Now, let’s address a few burning questions about Georgia:

With Matt Stafford and Knowshon Moreno gone, who will anchor the Bulldog backfield?

There are a handful of guys at running back, led by a pair of sophomores in Caleb King and Richard Samuel. Carlton Thomas, a 5-foot-7, 178-pound freshman, might enter in the mix, along with a couple others.
