Isolate that one moment, and you understand the only idea behind the fun, addictive “Temple Run” game, made by Imangi Studios for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch currently, and soon, Android devices.

The game goes like this: The hero comes flying out of the temple, running at high speed, with an undescribed object. Alien monkey-like creatures are chasing him, and he has to run along narrow paths, leap over gaps and jump over or slide under tree trunks and arcs of fire. He collects points and coins along the way, which the player can use to buy more characters and power-ups like angel wings to keep him safe if he happens to slide into the swamp or get eaten by the monkey creatures. If the character dies, the game starts over from the beginning.

Available as a free mobile application on Apple’s iTunes Store, Temple Run is one of the most popular “endless” running games. Any day now, it will be out on Android devices, developers recently announced to their nearly 2.2 million fans on Facebook.
