Get App-y: 'The Hunger Games' has new app

Adventure-style games like “The Hunger Games Adventures” are light on action but relaxing and addicting as players work through levels to see the stories develop.

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with these types of games. Sometimes they feel like an addictive waste of time that keeps me from a lengthy to-do list. Other times, I find it relaxing to play them because I can focus on one task and let my mind rest, especially when they involve problem-solving or seek-and-find puzzles.

If you like this style of games then also check out some of the storytelling apps by Big Fish Games Inc., such as “Drawn: The Painted Tower” and “Drawn: Dark Flight,” both for $6.99. Watch for discounts from Big Fish on these games or sample the first chapters free. Spooky and compelling, these include some interesting problem-solving interludes.

I also like “Hidden Objects: Gardens of Time” (free, Walt Disney). Other popular ones in this category include any of the “Story” games by TeamLava — like BakeryStory and DragonStory, also free.
