Express Sports president Bob Funk Jr. is the manager of the AHL Hockey Club, LLC that will soon start negotiations to bring an American Hockey League franchise to Oklahoma City for the 2010-11 season. The city council is scheduled to vote Tuesday whether to approve the company’s letter of intent.

AHL Hockey Club, LLC was formed May 13, 2008, with Oklahoma City-based attorney Armand Paliotta as the registered agent. Paliotta specializes in corporate law, securities, business law, tax law and tax controversies.

Paliotta was named an additional manager of the company to assist with the negotiations last month.

Express Sports also owns the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Double-A Central Hockey League. Express decided last week to suspend operations, citing the franchise is not economically viable, despite the Blazers ranking among attendance leaders in all of minor-pro hockey for 17 seasons.

Paliotta and Funk could not be reached for comment. Express Sports assistant general manager Josh Evans declined comment.
