MADRID (AP) — Getafe beat 10-man Mallorca 1-0 in the Spanish league on Monday, with Diego Castro dedicating his second-half winner to former coach Manuel Preciado.

Mallorca started strong at Alfonso Perez stadium, but the game swung in Getafe's favor in the 10th minute when Ximo Navarro was shown a direct red card for an ugly tackle on Castro.

Castro capitalized on the hosts' numerical advantage four minutes after halftime, firing in Abdelaziz Barrada's back pass.

The attacking midfielder celebrated the goal by lifting his shirt to reveal a T-shirt with the photo of Preciado, who died of a heart attack in July. Preciado had coached Castro at Sporting Gijon.

"Not just me, but all of us that were his friends, we will always remember him," Castro said about his former manager.

The win was Getafe's second of the season and broke a three-game winless streak.

"We really needed this victory to boost our morale, we were playing hard but not seeing the points for our efforts," Castro said.

It was Mallorca's first loss of the season through six rounds.
