LOS ANGELES (AP) — The San Francisco Giants have reinstated right-hander Matt Cain from the 15-day disabled list to start Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and placed first baseman Brandon Belt on the 15-day DL.

Cain missed two turns in the rotation. He last pitched on April 23 because of a cut on the tip of his index finger, which occurred in the clubhouse kitchen at AT&T Park when he tried to catch a knife that fell out of his hand.

Belt, who led the club with nine home runs entering Saturday, broke his left thumb Friday night when he was hit with a pitch by Paul Maholm. He is expected to be out for at least six weeks, and is back in San Francisco to see a hand specialist.
