Justices Yvonne Kauger and Noma Gurich, of the Oklahoma Supreme Court, have been inducted into Girl Scout Honorary Troop 1912.

The honorary troop's purpose is to advocate for girls. Kauger is the senior member of the court, and Gurich is its newest member.

The induction ceremony took place at the May 3 Girl Scout Day at the Capitol with the theme “Get Your Girl Power.”

Scouts from Troop 3222, who were working on their Bronze awards, met with Rep. Brian Renegar, D-McAlester, and Sen. Roger Ballenger, D-Okmulgee, to discuss legislation they sponsored regarding licensing animal shelters.

The girls' Bronze project was to help Free to Live Animal Sanctuary. The girls visited several times to help socialize the dogs and cats so that, if they are adopted, they will be better pets. The girls also raised more than $1,000 to help Free to Live and learned how to research pending legislation.
