Girls basketball: McKenzie Cooper recovers from illness, leads Shawnee to title

The Oklahoman's Girls Player of the Week averaged 13.-5 points per game through four contests to help Wolves improve to 9-0 on the season.

Coming off bronchitis and a sinus infection, McKenzie Cooper never looked under the weather throughout the week.

She led Shawnee to a 4-0 record on the week, winning the East Central Classic and topping Class 5A defending champion Deer Creek on the road.

Cooper averaged 13.5 points per game during the four contests, firmly cementing the Wolves as the top team in the Class 5A coaches' poll.

Her best performance came Tuesday when she scored 17 points in the Wolves' victory at Deer Creek.

Shawnee (9-0) also upset Class 6A No. 5 Choctaw on Saturday.
