The body of a young girl has been found, bringing the death toll from the May 31 storms in Oklahoma to 22, the state medical examiner reported Thursday.
The girl was identified as Destiny Love Shrum, 4.
The girl is from the family that sought shelter from tornadoes May 31 in a long drainage tunnel that goes underneath SW 15 in Oklahoma City, west of Interstate 44. The family was swept from the tunnel into the Oklahoma River by flash flooding.
The body was found Wednesday, relatives who survived the incident told The Oklahoman. The search for a baby girl's body continues. The death toll will rise to 23 once the body is found.
Three fatalities from the family swept into the Oklahoma River were identified earlier. All three drowned. They were Cory Don Johnson Jr., 3, Timothy Shrum, 21, and Terra Shrum, 3.
