Girls golf: Deer Creek's Caroline Goodin found perfect finish to impressive season

Goodin finished as the Class 5A runner-up, but led the Antlers to the team title to be named The Oklahoman's All-City Girls Golfer of the Year.

“I'm really proud of all of us,” she said. “There's no words to describe the feeling. You can't say it feels awesome to be a state champion, because it feels better than that.

“It's just been so much fun. Winning state was the ultimate goal, and it feels so good to accomplish that.”

Now, Goodin is leaving a state champion to join a national champion at Oklahoma City University. The Stars won their sixth NAIA national title late last month, and Goodin has previously competed against several of her future teammates.

“We have a chance to win again, and that's one of the things I like so much about it there,” Goodin said. “I already know all the girls on the team, and it really makes me feel comfortable there, because I know everybody.”
