The story: The junior is a three-time state champion in the 100 meters in Class 3A, running 12.40 at state, and she narrowly missed a three-peat in the 200, taking silver at 26.09 last month.
Breonna Hall, Millwood
The story: The young sprinter posted a second-place time of 59.74 at the 3A state meet.
Lexi Cowan, Bridge Creek
The story: Part of a growing track program at Bridge Creek, Cowan was fourth at state in 2:27.11.
Cheyenne Choate, Hennessey
Event: 1,600 and 3,200
The story: Choate won the 3,200 in 12:26.00 (her best time was 12:05) and took second in the 1,600 at 5:39.82, adding a fourth-place finish in the 800.
Kaily Anderson, Luther
Event: 100 hurdles
The story: Anderson blazed to a gold medal with a winning time of 15.71 seconds.
Claire Grimmett, Pauls Valley
Event: 300 hurdles
The story: One of two freshmen on the girls' first team, Grimmett pulled off a big win in the 300 hurdles at 48.23.
McKenzie Stanford, Perkins-Tryon
Event: High jump
The story: Stanford went out strong, winning 3A state with a jump of 5-6; also medaled in the 100.
Shelby Shepard, Heritage Hall
Event: Long jump
The story: The younger sister of OU football player Sterling Shepard, Shelby won gold at 4A state by one-quarter of an inch with a jump of 17-3 3/4.
Katelyn Whitekiller, Purcell
Event: Pole vault
The story: Continuing her career at Southeastern Louisiana, Whitekiller repeated as state champion in the pole vault at 11-6.
Ashley Bryant, Newcastle
Event: Shot put
The story: Won 4A state with a throw of 42-7, giving her two golds and a silver in the discus the last three years.
Shelby Crump, Hennessey
The story: Crump's throw of 123-8 was good for a runner-up finish at 2A state.
Coach of the Year
Joe McCulley, Hennessey
The story: McCulley guided a powerhouse Hennessey program to its third consecutive Class 2A state championship, scoring 119 points and winning by 47. It was Hennessey's sixth girls title overall.
