Golfing hot streaks
Padraig Harrington's PGA Championship victory gave him three wins in the last six majors contested and clearly stamped him as the No. 2 golfer in the world. Harrington's hot streak has been previously achieved by only the greatest golfers of all time: •1. Tiger Woods: Four such streaks, including once winning five of six, from the '99 PGA through the '01 Masters. •2. Jack Nicklaus: Two such streaks, including three straight majors, from the '71 PGA through the '72 U.S. Open. •3. Bobby Jones: Counting the U.S. and British amateurs as his majors, Jones had four such streaks, notably his grand slam in 1930. •4. Ben Hogan: Two such streaks, including a three-in-five ('50 U.S. Open through '51 U.S. Open) and three-in-three ('53 Masters through '53 British). •5. Arnold Palmer: Won three of five from the '61 British through the '62 British. •6. Walter Hagen: Won three of six from '24 British through the '25 PGA. •7. Tom Watson: Won three of six from the '82 U.S. Open through the '83 British. •8. Lee Trevino: Won three of six from the '71 U.S. Open through the '72 British.
