Gospel fest set for Sept. 1 on the grounds of the Oklahoma state Capitol
Singing, praying and preaching are scheduled during the Oklahoma Gospel Fest, set for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 1 on the lawn near the south entrance of the state Capitol.
Organizer Kim Truss said the schedule includes public testimonies starting at 10 a.m., fellowship from noon to 2 p.m. and revival messages from pastors Michael Coleman and Louis Bell from 2 to 5 p.m.
Oklahoma-based gospel artists scheduled to perform from 6 to 8:30 p.m. are Terry Tubbs and the Diversity Music Fellowship, Christian rap artist Derrick Whitehorn and the women's gospel group AryQah and Unique.
The purpose of the gospel fest is to pray for the state and its leaders, “encourage unity and attack segregation at its root,” Truss said.
“Our goal is to be encouraging and uplifting for all those who attend. All are welcome.”
Visitors should bring lawn chairs or blankets and provide their own drinking water as none will be available on the grounds, Truss said.
