PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer is headed to Taiwan as leader of a delegation that hopes to identify new trade and tourism opportunities.

Brewer's office says the governor is leaving Thursday on the weeklong trip. She'll be joined by representatives from the Arizona Chamber of Commerce, Arizona Commerce Authority and Arizona Office of Tourism.

Brewer and the group hope to identify import and export opportunities with Taiwan while improving existing trade and government contacts. She will tout Arizona's business-friendly environment.

Taiwan is a major importer of Arizona products, buying more than $320 million in goods in 2012. Taiwan sent more than $530 million in products to Arizona that year.

The governor also wants to tout the state as a destination for Taiwanese tourists.
