Government shouldn't fund OETA

LaRue Boyd (Your Views, Feb. 18) is worried about Oklahoma Educational Television Authority not receiving our tax dollars. Government shouldn't fund programming or art of any kind. These are matters of taste; what one taxpayer values, another might not and he/she shouldn't have to pay for it! The most egregious problem is that OETA enables government to push its agenda either overtly or covertly — witness Bill Moyers' left-leaning slant on everything. Any program worthwhile will find commercial sponsors on any one of hundreds of cable channels or citizens will pony up the needed revenue to keep it on the air on a voluntary basis during the annual “Festival” begging.
