Government spending didn't help divorce, poverty rates

“Critics call for divorce from marriage initiative” (Oklahoma Watch, Dec. 1) states that the “marriage initiative” was intended to reduce divorce and fight poverty. This is typical of government spending.

“Critics call for divorce from marriage initiative” (Oklahoma Watch, Dec. 1) states that the “marriage initiative” was intended to reduce divorce and fight poverty. This is typical of government spending. It doesn't appear that divorce rates are down but by spending $70 million, the poverty rate has been improved — for someone!
