When are we going to say “enough is enough” when it comes to the government trying to protect us from ourselves? I've never smoked, not even during my four years in the Navy, but I have many friends who do. I don't judge them. I was at the veterans center in Norman picking up my dad and saw a notice saying, “Due to executive order 2012-01 this will be a smoke-free facility effective January 1, 2015.”
As it is, nobody smokes anywhere there except outside so why this ridiculous order? In effect this bars our veterans, who put their lives on the line for our freedom, from any state institution if they smoke. When we go out on weekends, we know which places are going to be too smoky and avoid them. We don't try to close them or make them smoke free as the secondhand smoke zealots do.
Too many people want to control every aspect of our lives.
