Governor approves bonds for museum, waterways

Another part of the statewide $475 million bond issue — a $75 million package that includes funding for the American Indian Cultural Center and Museum in Oklahoma City — has been signed into law by the governor.

House Bill 2970, admission to state parks and museums for veterans

•At stake: Requires the Oklahoma Lottery Commission to make monthly instead of quarterly payments to the State Regents for Higher Education.

Senate Bill 2034, taxes

•At stake: Allows delinquent taxpayers to pay overdue taxes between Sept. 15 and Nov. 15 without interest or penalties. The tax compliance program is estimated to bring in about $34.7 million. The measure also closes a tax loophole involving the Real Estate Investment Trust. Some corporations have taken advantage of the

loophole to avoid paying corporate income taxes. It's estimated that closing the loophole will mean correcting a loss of about $6 million.
