Governor signs child predator bill

Gov. Brad Henry today signed a bill intended to crack down on the growing threat of online child predators.

With 19 seventh-graders from the Classen School of Advanced Studies in Oklahoma City standing behind him, the governor signed the measure, creating an Internet Crimes Against Children unit to specifically investigate cases of online child predators and child pornographers.

In addition, the measure strengthens penalties against predators who solicit minors online.

. The U.S. Justice Department estimates that one in every five teens is approached online by a sexual predator.
