Governor's art awards ceremony set

Edna Mae Holden and H.E. ‘Gene' Rainbolt will receive the Governor's Arts Award for their longtime leadership and contributions to the arts across Oklahoma.

Gov. Brad Henry is scheduled to present awards to Holden, Rainbolt and 16 other honorees at the 33rd annual Governor's Arts Awards ceremony, Oct. 23 at the state Capitol.

About the honorees
Edna Mae Holden of Enid

Award: Governor's Arts Award, recognizing her leadership and contributions to the arts across Oklahoma.

Holden has brought Oklahoma history to life by creating art, volunteering and organizing public art events. She serves on the board of directors of the Greater Enid Arts & Humanities Council and operates Holden Art & Law art gallery in Enid. Her works have been published in magazines that capture the spirit of the American West including Persimmon Hill, Cowboy and Western Horseman.

H.E. ‘Gene' Rainbolt

of Oklahoma City

Award: Governor's Arts Award, recognizing his longtime leadership and contributions to the arts across Oklahoma.

Rainbolt has given his time and invested substantial resources to ensure a vibrant arts landscape for Oklahoma communities. As a supporter for quality arts education for Oklahoma's youth, he served as a chairman of the Oklahoma Arts Institute and as director of The Jasmine Moran Children's Museum. He served on the board of directors for the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and Allied Arts and was active in Lyric Theatre's renovation of the historic Plaza Theatre.

Award: Bill Crawford Memorial Media Award, which recognizes members of the media who demonstrate a commitment to the arts in Oklahoma.
