EL RENO — Grace Living Center El Reno will hold its annual Grace Rocks Burger Day starting at noon Friday.
The event offers residents and guests to a day filled with fun, giving them a small taste of El Reno’s famous and much larger Onion Burger Day.
“We started this event seven years ago to help ensure that our residents who could not attend the El Reno event would still be able to enjoy the fun and flavor of one of the town’s most popular events,” said Shange Loyd, administrator at Grace.
This year’s festivities will feature a distinctively 1950s and ’60s theme, including a classic car show where guest and residents can stroll down memory lane in vintage Route 66 style.
A disc jockey will spin favorite cruising music as the home’s own “car hops” dish up classic cruising cuisine: El Reno’s famous onion burgers, corn dogs, homemade slaw, root beer floats, popcorn, cookies and more.
The home is including a health fair this year with free blood pressure checks, gift items and local health professionals on hand to answer questions.
“Our staff and residents really look forward to planning and hosting this event, which welcomes members of our community for a day of fun and friendship,” said Amanda Craig, assistant director of nursing at Grace Living Center El Reno.
The festivities run from noon until 3 p.m. Friday at 1901 Parkview Drive. Grace Rocks Burger Day is open to the public. Donations of $5 or more are encouraged. All the money raised will support additional activities for the residents.
