Grand Lake state park closed after high levels of E. coli bacteria found

BERNICE — The swimming beach in the Bernice Area of Grand Lake State Park was closed Tuesday because of potentially unsafe levels of E. coli found in water samples.

It will remain closed for at least 48 hours until addition water samples are tested. The park remains open but no swimming is allowed.

“Public safety is our top priority,” Grand River Dam Authority spokesman Justin Alberty said in a news release.
