Grandmas hope to start a Thunder fan club

Published: July 13, 2012

Sign me up for the Grandma's Thunder Fan Club mentioned by Eunice Aldrich (Your Views, July 8). I've also given thought to starting such a club and would be more than happy to help get this started. Like Aldrich, I had never paid much attention to the NBA until these guys came to town four short years ago. They're a great group of guys and I'd be honored to call any of them my grandson. And like so many of the other articles I've read from other grandmas, I don't take too kindly to some of the remarks made about “our” boys.

I certainly never thought at my age, 66, that I'd be whooping, hollering and dancing around at an NBA game but I do. Never did I think I would don a blue wig to attend these games but I do that, too. It's an honor for this city and this state to have this team and we appreciate them so much. So, all of us grandparents should get our heads together and see about starting a Grandma/Grandparent Thunder Fan club. And good luck to Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden and the entire Team USA at the Olympics. You can bet I'll be watching!
