TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) — The Cherokee Nation is offering grants for elementary students to tour some of the tribe's historical sites.
The grants will fund 20 education tours for schools both within and outside the tribe's 14-county jurisdiction in northeastern Oklahoma. The grants are available for grades three through six.
Some of the sites featured on the education tours include the Cherokee National Supreme Court Museum, the Cherokee National Prison Museum and Murrell Home.
The deadline to apply is Sept. 22.
